a little history... the meidroth family tree can be traced back eight generations...the family is from germany, where seven meidroths live today...in the mid-1800s, our ancestors left germany and headed to the united states, where they settled in central illinois and southern california.

CHRISTIAN MEIDROTH 1790-? is our oldest known ancestor...he was married to Frederica, last name unknown, who was born in 1974.

AUGUST MEIDROTH (c. 1790) was our oldest known ancestor, likely born in the late 18th century in germany...he married and had five children...he may have been the first meidroth to emigrate to the usa, where he is believed to have owned a liquid soap factory in peoria, illinois...there is a meidroth street in the area where the factory may have been located.

WILLIAM F MEIDROTH (1822-1873), son of august, was the first of numerous wfm's in the bloodline...he was born in 1822 in nordhausen, germany, where he was a cabinetmaker...he married and had two sons... wfm operated "the pabst" and "meidroth buffet," two saloons, in downtown peoria...he left for california sometime around 1912, a move that resulted in the west coast and arizona branches of the family tree.

EMIL MEIDROTH (c 1825), son of august, worked in a peoria distillery...he married and had six children, laying the foundation for the illinois branch of the family.

from mike: I'm beginning the 8th year in my own business, Spectrum Associates, LLC. We do OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) compliance work. In other words, our clients would be interested in getting out of trouble or staying out of trouble with OSHA! It has been a wonderful niche after 25 years in the electronics industry in sales, marketing and management. A few of our better known clients are Oakley, American Red Cross, Staples Center, Goodwill Industries, Louis Vuitton USA, Mother's Cake & Cookies, Kia Motors USA, Kubota Tractor USA and the City of Torrance, pop. about 500,000). My wife Deanna (we just celebrated our 96th anniversary; we celebrate months as well as years!) and I are designing and building a home for our "second childhood" in Payson, Arizona, located at 5,000 feet elevation about 75 miles north of the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. After we move from Orange California towards the end of '01, Deanna will take an early retirement from Boeing and I will start another division of Spectrum Associates. My mother, Eleanor, 81, having lost my dad in February '00, is living near me in an active seniors apartment complex. Although she misses dad terribly (at the time of his passing he was thought to be the longest living Meidroth at the age of 84), her health is good and she will be moving to Payson and living with us. She's nearly as excited as we are about building a house and the move itself. My eldest son, Greg, 36, got married May '99 and recently purchased and moved into a new home in Hermosa Beach, California. They're expecting their first and my first grandchild in July. They've decided to keep the gender a secret so we'll all be surprised when the time arrives. Given the propensity for male Meidroth children however, I'll be shocked if it's a girl but frankly couldn't care less (I can teach her to fly fish as easily as a boy!!!). Greg is my partner in Spectrum Associates having joined the firm immediately after graduating from law school in June '93. His undergraduate degree is in economics from Arizona State (Greg is not a practicing attorney so save the lawyer jokes!). My middle son, Mitch, 31, remains the happiest bachelor we know living at the beach in Manhattan Beach, California (which by the way is my childhood home also). Mitch graduated from San Diego State University in '93 with a degree in applied graphics design. He is an athletic shoe designer for an Aussie firm named Globe Shoes. They focus on surfing and skateboarding so they are real trend setters for this industry. Hard to believe how large this market is. He is very well known in his industry for innovation and has designed some of their most popular shoes. Most importantly, he seems to really enjoy what he does. My youngest son, Steve, 29, is recently engaged to his girlfriend Kelley. Steve graduated from U. C. Santa Barbara with a degree in geology. I never could figure out what he was going to do with it; guess he couldn't either because he has worked mostly in the surfing industry with stints at Oakley (sunglasses, clothing, shoes, etc.), where he met Kelley. More recently he has become a Southern California sales representative for several different lines of snowboards and boots, DC Shoes (competitor of Globe Shoes) and some clothing lines (sounds like he's having way too much fun to call it work)! Steve and Kelley also live in Manhattan Beach. Kelley, interestingly enough, handles the marketing for the ladies line of Globe Shoes (Galles). Incidently, Steve and a college buddy started a surf wear company named Auctiv a couple of years ago. Although small, it's making money and not taking much time (think baggy shorts, big T-shirts and baseball style hats aimed at the 10-15 year old males market). They're all great kids and are and will always be the joy of my life. They just need to get busy and make some grandkids for me to spoil!!!

MARILYN MEIDROTH MILLER, deceased, daughter of william III, had four sons and a daughter. DAVID MILLER, deceased at 57, of phoenix, son of marilyn, had one son. dave was married 33 years to sandi and was in sales at a store that specializes in parts for "muscle" cars....david had a heart attack and died may 10, 2002. WILLIAM MILLER, 29, is the son of david. bill is an office manager.
